BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Morgan B. Duncan, 88, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at Dogwood Estates in Beaver Dam. He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Centertown, Kentucky, to the late James Herbert Duncan and Irene Mabrey Duncan.

Mr. Duncan retired from TVA and was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Mr. Duncan shared his love of the mandolin and fiddle with the public for 75 years. Mr. Duncan was the Kentucky State Mandolin Champion, Indiana State Fiddle Champion and was recipient of several other awards.

He was also known as the “instrument doctor” while volunteering in the Ohio County School System with the Bluegrass Music In Our Schools Program and most recently played with The Silver Dollar Band from Russellville, Kentucky. He was Kentucky Colonel.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Hoover Duncan, and one sister, Myrl Allen.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Maxine Duncan, of Beaver Dam; one son, Phillip (Gail) Duncan, of Evansville, Indiana; two daughters, Phyllis (Greg) Ashburn, of Masonville, Kentucky, and Fran (Mike) Blacklock, of Cromwell, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Leslie (Chris) Humphrey, Phillip Allen Duncan, Macey Peerman, Micaiah (Ben) Ballard, Jared Blacklock, and Joey (Sarah) Blacklock; nine great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jackson, Zachary, Garrett, Elijah, Kate, Briar, Ryder, and Parker; two brothers, Cola Duncan, of Hartford, and Kenneth (Dean) Duncan, of St. Charles, Kentucky; one sister, Myrtle Mathley, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Duncan’s family from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
