John William ‘Dub’ Green

BEAVER Dam, Ky. — John William “Dub” Green, 85, of Beaver Dam, went to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 4, 1932, at Union Hill, Kentucky, in Ohio County, to the late William Addison Green and Bunia Beatrice Felty Green.

Mr. Green retired from Peabody Coal Company where he worked at Ken Underground Mine. He served in the United States Army, 504th AAA Gun Battalion Anti-Aircraft Artillery, during the Korean War.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved gardening and camping. Mr. Green was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where he was a trustee and former sunday school superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, William Addison Green; two brothers, Wendell M. Green and Junior Green; four sisters, Louise Jones, Carrie Givens, Avilla Gray, and Anna M. Green.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, as of Dec. 8, Laurel Christine Green, of Beaver Dam; four children, Debbie (Charlie) Brown, of Quality, Kentucky, Wesley (Sandra) Green, of Beaver Dam, Cindy Smith, of Beaver Dam, and Karen (Tommy) Cardwell, of Morgantown, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jessie (Charlie) McKee, Chad (Amber) Smith, Corrie (K.P.)Raymond, Tyler Green, Martin Brown, and Chris Cardwell; 10 great-grandchildren, Hunter McKee, Jake McKee, Kellen Raymond, Baylor Raymond, Cutler Raymond, Taylor Smith, Callyn Smith, Alex Cardwell, Michelle Cardwell, and Ethan Cardwell; one sister, Anna Jean Cox; and lifelong friends, Jackie and Rob Shultz and the late Bobby Shultz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Jerry Alexander and Bro. George Darnell officiating. Burial will follow in Taylortown Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Green’s family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
