BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Ralph F. Shephard, 79, of Beaver Dam, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, after battling a long recovery from aneurysm surgery. He was born on Sept. 16, 1937, in Prentiss, Ky., to the late James Oscar Shephard and Winona Pirtle Taylor.
Ralph was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company Ken Surface Mine Alston 4 and was a member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oscar Shephard and Winona Pirtle Taylor.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Sherrell Schroader Shephard, of Beaver Dam; two sons, Mark Wayne Shephard and wife, Susan, of Beaver Dam, and Jeffery Lynn Shephard and wife, Laura, of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Susan Ilene Baggett and husband, Leonard, of Sacramento, Ky.; one brother, James Edward Shephard and wife, Pat, of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Leona Willoughby and Betty Fulton, both of Beaver Dam. Ralph was blessed with a stepgrandson, Logan Baggett and wife, Samantha, and twin stepgreat-grandchildren, Lucas and Lillian.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Alton Crowe and Rev. Greg Hillard officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Creek Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Shephard’s family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
