Grada Eardeen Heflin, 85, of Horse Branch, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Professional Care Health and Rehab Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Edmonson County, Ky., to the late George Hobert and Pearlie Belle Phelps Tarrence.

She was a member of Leach General Baptist Church and worked as a cook for Ohio County Hospital.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Winford O. Heflin; her daughter, Rose Mary Heflin; two sisters, Margie Craig and Ovaleen Wilson and five brothers, Johnny Tarrence, Elbert Tarrence, Chesford Tarrence, Gilmon Tarrence and baby Tarrence.

Survivors include her husband, Winford Coy Heflin of Beaver Dam; four sons, Donald Ray (Rose) Heflin of Olaton, Randell Gene Heflin of Horse Branch, Rondell Lee Heflin of Horse Branch and Johnny (Darla) Heflin of Horse Branch; two daughters, Pearl Ann (Rick) Beard of Horse Branch and Markeeta (Chris Goff) Heflin of Beaver Dam; one brother, Fredrick O’Dell Tarrence of Horse Branch, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Ricky Dockery officiating. Burial will be in Leach Cemetery in Horse Branch. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
